Diwali is a holiday which represents the days that King Rama defeated Ravana and returned to Ayodya in northern India and in southern India represents the day that Lord Krishna defeated the demon Narakasura. The holiday is important as it is supposed to show how light will always prevail over darkness and evil.
To celebrate the holiday, the Indian Culture Club got together after school and designed rangolis, which are colorful patterns usually put on entrances of homes to bring good luck. The club created their own rangolis, while we played classic and modern indian music. The club also hung them up around entrance ways around the school as a symbol of good luck and happiness. Members submitted their designs and competed in a competition for the best design.
