Parsippany, NJ - February 13, 2019- The Parsippany High School Academic Decathlon (AcDec) Team recently participated in the New Jersey Regional Competition. The competition was held at Woodrow Wilson Middle School in Clifton on Saturday, February 2. Parsippany High School’s team placed first in the region and won the Super Quiz. Eight team members and eight alternates competed on Saturday, advancing the team to the state competition to be held at Ramapo High School on Saturday, March 2. Team members who participated were: Alexandra Cerasiello, Daniel Kuo, Andrew Lie, Sejal Murthy, Aarav Patel, Shiv Dipak Patel, Saeed Sarkhot, Shayan Rahmatulla. Overall, the Parsippany High School team took home more than 60 awards and honors for the regional competition.
Academic Decathlon is a 10-event scholastic competition for high school students. The events include math, science, social science, literature, economics, art, music, speech, essay and interview. This year’s theme is the 1960s. Team coaches are Nancy Lennon, science teacher, and Stacy Cozin, media specialist.
